The new GMC lineup at Chavez Jessup GMC is divided into two halves. A truck range that runs from midsize to heavy duty, and an SUV range that starts compact and ends with a full-size extended model built to carry eight.

The Truck Range: Sierra 1500, Sierra HD and Canyon

Sierra 1500 is the volume truck and carries the widest spread of trims and cab configurations on the lot. Sierra HD sits above it in 2500HD and 3500HD form, including dual-rear-wheel builds and chassis cab units for work that a half-ton cannot cover.

Canyon is the midsize option. It fits a standard garage, parks in a normal space, and still handles a trailer and a bed full of gear. For a driver moving out of a sedan or a crossover, it is often the easier first truck.

Configuration matters more than trim on a truck. Cab size, bed length, drivetrain and axle ratio all change what the truck can do, and two units wearing the same trim badge can be specified very differently. New GMC SUVs for Palm Desert and Indio Shoppers

Terrain is the compact SUV in the range, two rows and built for a driver who wants GMC interior materials without a full-size footprint. Acadia steps up to three rows in a midsize body. Yukon and Yukon XL are the full-size choices, and the XL adds cargo room behind the third row rather than more passenger space.

Third-row shoppers should compare Acadia and Yukon directly. The seat itself is usable in both. What separates them is what fits behind it once every seat is occupied, which is a hard thing to judge from a spec sheet and an easy thing to judge in the parking lot with your own stroller or golf clubs.

Sorting the Trims: Elevation, AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate

Trim names repeat across the lineup, which makes them easier to learn once. Elevation is the styling-forward volume trim. AT4 adds off-road hardware and a lifted stance, and AT4X pushes that further. Denali is the luxury tier, and Denali Ultimate is the fully loaded version of it, with the interior materials and technology to match.

A shopper who has narrowed the decision to two trims usually settles it by sitting in both back to back. That is easier to arrange than it sounds, and it answers questions about seat comfort, screen layout and outward visibility that no comparison chart resolves.
